Custom extension renovation Melbourne
Transforming a 1947 Art Deco home into an 8.9 Energy Star-rated residence posed a unique challenge for CREO CON, yet it was a deeply rewarding endeavor, especially for our environmentally conscious client who has cherished this home for over three decades.
The extension seamlessly integrates with the original structure, a feat achieved through meticulous supporting and underpinning efforts. The design capitalizes on the north-facing backyard, allowing for a polished concrete slab that harnesses the sun’s energy during winter and radiates warmth throughout the night. This innovative approach ensures a naturally regulated indoor climate.
The incorporation of internal recycled cream clinkers adds substantial thermal mass to the building, further enhancing temperature stability. Throughout the home, high-performance Aliclad double-glazed doors and windows from Miglas and Stegbar contribute to superior energy efficiency and comfort.
Sustainability is at the core of this renovation. Red water diverter valves channel rainwater into two 7000-litre tanks, significantly reducing water waste. The elimination of gas energy in favor of a comprehensive solar power system, complemented by a Hive Battery pack, marks a significant step toward eco-friendly living.
The extension’s design is a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary aesthetics, highlighted by its first-floor cathedral ceilings. This thoughtful approach not only respects the home's original character but also ensures it remains future-proof.
As the home embraces a greener future, the next exciting step for our client may well be the addition of a Tesla Model S, further aligning with their commitment to sustainable living. This project exemplifies CREO CON’s dedication to combining architectural excellence with environmental responsibility.
